When ETC introduced their 90
degree lens tube to the market, Point Source Productions jumped at
the chance to expand their hire stock of
ETC Source 4 profiles. As soon as news of their release hit the
market, every corporate client was asking for them and Point Source
Production were quick to respond to their wishes.
The new lenses have instantly been
put to use in the corporate event sector where they are proving most
popular on account of their broad coverage and speed of deployment.
Corporate venues frequently have
low ceilings which can be a problem when a gobo wash is required to
create texture and ambience at an event. Long throw distances are
not possible without the risk of hitting the public in the eye, so
projection has to have a steep angle and short throw distance. This
is when the ETC 90° lens transforms a standard Source 4 into an
ideal short range gobo projector, offering good resolution across a
full gobo image. And since time is of the essence in corporate work,
the wide coverage these lenses offer means more light for less man
hours.
There is also a cost saving on
power consumption since fewer units are required to cover an area –
a particularly valuable facet in corporate work where power
availability can sometimes be an issue.
The 90° lenses match the ETC
Source 4 fixtures and are compact enough to be used in the smallest
of spaces, so the aesthetics as good as the performance with the
fixtures exhibiting all the Source 4 characteristics which makes
them so reliable and in demand.
For theatre the value of the 90°
lenses lies in their compact size and wide beam which handle the
short throw distances often necessitated for projection onto
cycloramas and gauzes where no other option will do.
