Point Source Productions brings in Hippo Critter

Point Source Productions Hire Department has added a new little beast to its menagerie: a Hippo Critter from Green Hippo. This little media server is the smallest of the Hippotizer family weighing in at under 3kgs and is ideal for fixed installations, architectural applications and shows that require flexible movement of the unit.

Hippo Critter retains the same functionality and components as its bigger brothers including:

• Class leading video playback and real-time rendering

• 2 FX engines per later, 100+ effects per FX engine

• Frame accurate synchronisation across multiple servers

• Media Manager with live media updating

• Timeline scheduling against the clock for standalone operation

• Keystone and ScreenWarp for non-linear projection surfaces

• Soft-Edge Blending

• 4 layers (720 x 576) or 2 layers (1280x720)

• Unlimited universes of PixelMapper for LED fixtures

• Control of external devices via RS232 or TCPIP

• Remote management, upload and configuration via HippoNet

• External control from DMX/MIDI/TCP-IP/RS232

• Automation component for use with moving staging, truss, etc

However, it is specially effective when used in conjunction with Chroma-Q™ Color Web – also a stock component of Point Source Productions Hire Equipment.

Chroma-Q™ Colour Web provides an excellent entry level scenic LED solution, or can act as a low resolution video wall, making it excellent for those taking the initial steps into video imaging and backdrop projection or simply for creative ambient lighting.

Colour Web has a unique modular design and is made up of flexible 1m² webbing panels providing 16 individually addressable colour mixing LED cells with a pitch of 250mm.

These panels can be clipped together on all four sides to form customised hangings of any shape or size, whilst the webbing design renders the whole semi-transparent, allowing multi-layered effects or double hanging. IP65 rated, Colour Web can be used at any outdoor event.
