Here’s a run-down of just some of the recent
acquisitions now available from our Equipment Hire department…
Jands 48-way Touring Dimmer
Newly launched at PLASA 2010, this 48-way model has a powerlock
input and loop through. Four Socapex inputs enable hard power
for moving lights and are fully patch-able through the Wieland
patch, allowing you to send either a dimming circuit or hard power
to any of the 16 Socapex outputs.
Currently in use on La Soirée at the South Bank (click
here to read more about La Soirée), the Point Source
Productions units are amongst the first in the country to be made
available from hire stock. For more information about the Jands
48-way Touring Dimmer,

Litec 3m Truss Circle
Available from the end of February (it’s currently starring in La
Soirée too!), our new 3m Litec QX30S truss circle is composed of
four quarter segments which can be combined with any of our Litec
QX30S truss to extend its capabilities. Circular overhead truss is
always in demand as a departure from conventional box shapes. But
further creative combinations, such as 3m wide round-top tunnels can
be made (extended to 4m with the addition of further truss lengths),
adding interest and functionality to your tradeshow stands and set
pieces. Any configuration using 1.5m quarter circles can be achieved
so why just go round in circles? For full details of this product,

Pipe & Drape
This easy-build, lightweight aluminium system of telescopic vertical
and horizontal poles is the fastest and easiest method of rigging
drapes that we know. The poles are mounted on 18” square bases, each
having a moveable spigot with a choice of 3 positions. This gives
maximum adjustability, so drapes can be deployed precisely where
needed, even butting up against a wall or reaching into the corner
of a room.
Ideal for freestanding applications such as tradeshows, conferences
or amateur dramatics, our pipe and drape system is set up without
the need for tools, allowing immediate onsite manoeuvrability.
Horizontals and uprights come in a choice of two sizes 1.8m – 3m
(6’-10’) and 2.1m – 3.6m (7’-12’).

Sennheiser G3 300 Series
The 2012 digital switch-over requires radio microphones to be moved
to channel 38. With this in mind Point Source Productions has
recently revamped its stock of radio mics by investing the
Sennheiser G3 300 Series. Fred Riding, Point Source Productions’
Sound Wizard explains:
“Our old radio mic stock of Trantec S4000 and S5000s, whilst
providing out-standing performance and value for our customers, was
becoming over-shadowed by the rapid pace of technology. Point Source
Productions has always been a truly inclusive company, giving equal
time and dedication to large corporate events as much as small-scale
events and we need a wireless microphone system that reflects our
range of clients.
“When sourcing replacements, paramount requirements were for units
that were modular to prep, fast to set up on site, and offered rock
solid performance – which led us to Sennheiser EW 312 G3. Having
used Sennheisers extensively for the New Shakespeare Company at
Regents Park Open Air theatre and on smaller shows such as the
annual Epsom Playhouse pantomime, I knew they could cater for all
events.
“The units are small, and run off just two AA batteries, which
reduces the consumable budgets dramatically whilst offering greater
recycling options post-event. The locking mini-jack connector
provides a superior fit, providing peace of mind when mixing a show,
safe in the knowledge it won’t come un-done! Setting up couldn't be
easier with the introduction of Wireless synchronization between TXU
and RXU. Our clients can swap channels and other pack parameters by
simply holding the TXU to the receiver rack! Essential when last
minute changes call for additional mics.
“Finally, all our microphones now come in racks of 4, providing
unsurpassed flexibility in kit size.
“All in all, our new Sennheiser EW 312 G3 will provide a seamless
transition from our old stock, ensuring our sound department
continues to provide you with the best equipment available.”
